Donna Summer (born LaDonna Adrian Gaines, December 31, 1948 – May 17, 2012) was an American singer, songwriter, and actress widely known as the “Queen of Disco.” Rising to international fame in the 1970s with groundbreaking hits such as “Love to Love You Baby,” “I Feel Love,” “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Bad Girls,” she became one of the most successful female recording artists of her era. A five-time Grammy winner and the first artist to win the award for Best Dance Recording, Summer also excelled in rock, R&B, pop, and gospel. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and remains a towering influence on dance music and popular culture.
