New Age Case Study–You Can’t Avoid Fate And What to do Instead

Share Button

We offered our sympathy when a friend expressed anxiety about a very tough personal situation she was going through. Hearing about her situation reminded us about the futility of attempting to dodge personal fate and adversity.

She said, “Aside from the challenges in my childhood, or maybe because of them, I’ve always managed to power though the tough periods in life. But now I’m going through some really overwhelming things and I’m about at my breaking point, consumed with worry and fear.”

She went on to say, “My ex-husband is in trouble with the IRS, and he’s facing charges for being way behind in child support. Now he’s trying to take full custody of our children because he’s very angry that he had to go to court about child support. He probably won’t win, but he’s playing dirty and it’s costing me a lot of money and my good reputation. He wants to steal my children, move them to another state, and wants me to pay for it!”

“I must have been a very horrible person in a past lifetime because I can see no wisdom in all that’s been happening. Usually I can see the lesson or the wisdom in it. This time I’m truly blind.”

We mentioned that while fate is likely at play, it may also be a case of 1 + 1 = 2 (marrying someone who is not compatible and who has serious personality red flags, which were hidden until it was too late = problems).

We told her that she’s an honorable person now, that’s what matters most, and even if she did keep her kids from her ex in a past life, it’s best not to worry about that now because everyone has been incorrigible in past lives.

She also mentioned that she dabbled in some New Age manifestation techniques (spells) and, “Literally, it blew up in my face and made things worse. ‘Manifesting’ proved to be very dangerous in my case.”

“It’s a given this is a very tough time in your life,” we said, “but as you know, personal fate frequently isn’t logical when viewed from just the perspective of this lifetime. Maybe you’ve been led to believe, by the usual New Age suspects, that you wouldn’t have to endure such pain if you would just believe in the ‘secret’ and ‘manifest’ a better tomorrow, for example. Those philosophies don’t work in the real world when you are faced with impossible odds.”

“One benefit of this experience is that you can now more easily spot New Age bull. Well written New Age prose may feel wonderful and inspiring, like a sugar high, but so much of it is myth and pure escapism.”

“Hey, our apologies if that sounds harsh, but fate is fate, unalterable, and much in life isn’t so pleasant. It can’t be avoided by New Age snake-oil solutions, no matter how much they inspire you.”

“However, as you know by now, you can view life’s challenges in a way that makes them more bearable; accept what you can’t change and view them as a necessary part of life. Things aren’t going as you had planned, but a year from now you’ll be through with the bulk of it. Hang in there!”

Unfortunately, our friend, like many others, found that when life (i.e., personal fate) deals you an impossible hand, it makes popular New Age solutions like “manifest anything you want” appear frivolous and disingenuous.

While we appreciate inspiration rooted in reality and the idea of constantly striving toward your goals, it’s important to avoid getting caught up in spiritual hype because it can make you feel like a failure or worse.

Irreversible personal adversity, the really hard stuff in your life, is a reality for everyone at some point or another. The best approach is usually to deal with it head-on, compassionately and assertively. You are stronger than you realize. Accept what you can’t change, like others’ behavior, change what you can, and be grateful for the opportunity for growth because it’s largely the trials in life that make you the person you are destined to become.

When to Keep Quiet About Your Metaphysical Beliefs

Share Button

Long gone are the days when someone could easily be committed to a mental institution, or worse, simply for speaking up about their ability to perceive auras, past lives, or the future. Thank God. More and more people are receptive to metaphysical subjects, but still, you need to watch what you say. Not everyone will understand, and some will even use the information against you.

Friends and Acquaintances

It’s likely you have friends who are involved with metaphysics if you are too. However, for those who aren’t, remember that it’s not necessary for all friends to have the same beliefs. Accept your differences and respect that they might not want to hear about the ghost in your new home.

Family

The non-believers in your family likely already think your metaphysical beliefs are crazy, so there’s no point in trying to convince them of your viewpoint. Try not to judge them for judging you. They are who they are and it’s okay to have a different viewpoint. Even if they are rude, be the adult and let it go. If they bring up the subject, it’s usually best to keep it brief rather than launch into a detailed description of how grandma visited you after her death. After they die they’ll realize you were on to something, but in the meantime avoid conflict by surrendering any desire to change their thinking.

Occasionally saying a few words about various goings on from a spiritual standpoint is harmless, and will at least make you feel like your voice is not totally shut down. If you’re lucky enough to have a receptive relative with whom you can discuss metaphysical subjects, save it for them.

Coworkers and Your Employer

Caution about sharing your views with coworkers. Even an innocent conversation about your past life visions of you and your coworkers as slaves on a plantation in 1753 could come back to whip your ass. Keep your visions to yourself unless a coworker is as metaphysically inclined, and even then it’s usually better to say only what you’d say in front of the entire staff, including your boss. Make sure to use your metaphysical talents to your great advantage in the workplace, covertly (and for the highest good of all involved, of course), to protect yourself and improve your job performance.

Dating

Hold your tongue for the first few dates if you think there may be chemistry and compatibility, and after that tread carefully. Your metaphysical interests are only a small part of who you are, and it would be a shame for a potential love interest to drop you in the very early stages of a relationship just because they don’t understand.

On the other hand, if they are rigidly closed off to even the most universally accepted metaphysical concepts, and insist that your convictions are “wrong,” this may not be a match made in heaven. If you find yourself on a date with someone you’d rather not spend time with again, speak your mind and pour it on! They will likely do you the favor of discontinuing the interaction.

Strangers You Encounter

Let your freak flag fly around strangers, especially those you’ll likely never see again! We’re not recommending that you act radically or anti-social, but you may find yourself occasionally giving spontaneous, important messages to strangers, just what they need to hear at the time, and not even realize the importance of what you’ve said and the impact it made. You might serve them perfectly and even plant an important seed of insight that stays with them for years.

Follow the advice above and you’ll have greater peace of mind and suffer less strife in your personal and professional relationships.

5 Spiritual Tips to Deal With Difficult People Over the Holidays

Share Button

Strife is a fact of life. No matter how much you try to get along with certain individuals in your life, disharmony prevails. It’s like they are driven by a demonic lord to make your life difficult.

Good news! You can’t rid yourself completely of the bad apples in your life, but you can change your perspective and therefore escape the harsh effects of those seemingly darkly influenced people.

Below are five tips to deal effectively with difficult people:

1. Generate compassion. Realize that they are difficult because it’s very possible they are dealing with their own personal demons. It could be anything from early life abuse, to addictions, to deep depression, to actual demonic influence (or all of the above). It’s also likely that if they were to experience directly the negativity they exude, they would be shocked; they may not even realize the extent of the abuse they inflict on others.

2. Accept that you can’t change how they are and that no matter who you were, they would still act the way they do. Don’t take it personally. Stop expecting that person to treat you like you want to be treated. Eventually, even if it is not until that person leaves this world, they will fully realize the pain they have generated. Don’t worry about trying to make them see the wrongs they inflict, that will take care of itself.

3. Detach from the circumstance. In other words, see it happening from outside of yourself, like you’re watching a dramatic soap opera: “Oh, look, there goes so and so again, giving me a hard time.” In doing so, you may even deflate the other person’s cruelty to the point where they might begin to look for someone else to harass instead of you.

4. Avoid reacting negatively, maintain composure and a positive attitude, and even smile if you can manage it. Whatever you do, avoid revenge. If you really feel like responding to that person, do it later, such as through e-mail or text. Write a few notes to yourself immediately after a negative interaction and then think about how to best phrase the e-mail content later.

Also, it’s much easier to keep in control and maintain your cool if you’re getting enough good sleep and exercise, and maintain a healthy diet. It also helps to arm yourself spiritually. Imagine yourself engulfed in a protective spiritual bubble of white Light and ask for help from guides and helpers of the Light on the other side.

5. Consider the opportunity, as unpleasant as it is, as a spiritual test. While it may be true that the other person is incurring negative karma by being difficult, you very well may have some karmic links to their behavior and how it affects you. We believe important life circumstances, the bad and good, aren’t random; they are part of your predetermined karmic framework and it’s up to you to deal with them constructively.

We recommend that, aside from expressing gratitude for the rewards and beauty of life, you view life as a series of tests and opportunities and approach it with compassion and faith. In doing so, you increase your spiritual power, win the game, and when you encounter those unruly souls again, whether on the other side or in a future life, you won’t have to endure a similar test again.

Failing Your Spiritual Tests – 5 Examples

Share Button

“Without fail, you will be tested,” said the wise man. We believe that how you respond to your spiritual tests in life determines how you progress spiritually, and it impacts your future personal fate.

Whether or not you’re successful with these tests depends on if you do the right thing and respond with unconditional love, tolerance, and honesty.

But let’s face it, you have most likely experienced a situation where you’ve been tested spiritually and failed miserably. Relax, you’re not alone, but the sooner you begin to deal constructively with your tests, the sooner you’ll balance your karma.

Below we list five common circumstances that may not always seem like a spiritual test failure, but we believe are.

1. After having your car serviced you realize that you’ve been ripped off; they didn’t fix the problem. In order for you to remedy the problem, you have to deal with the manager of the dealership, and you already know it will be difficult to deal with that person based on prior experience. Though you may not realize it at the time, this is a test for you to harden your resolve and stand up for what you believe in. Instead, you opt for conflict avoidance and take your car elsewhere to be serviced.

2. Both of you cheat in your relationship and are fully aware of it, yet pretend it doesn’t happen, while simultaneously promoting your new book on the importance of life-long monogamy. Instead of conceding that your relationship is finished on a sexual level, you lie and carry on like it isn’t. While you could do a lot of good for future generations, empowering them to realize that strict monogamy isn’t realistic for everyone or in all situations and that it’s acceptable to have alternative arrangements if everyone agrees to them, you take the easy way out.

3. Two individuals on the fringe of your social circle are burdened with nasty rumors about their integrity. You happen to find out the truth, that indeed those two people are innocent. Suddenly, an opportunity is thrust upon you to clarify the situation at a party one night, but you simply keep your mouth shut while they suffer.

4. You still can’t believe how your ex treated you, and you’ve vowed to never forgive that person, ever. The problem is that you’re only hurting yourself and that by holding a grudge, you’re inviting future scenarios where you’ll be forced to learn about forgiveness in love relationships, time and time again, until you finally get it right.

5. It’s like the universe is conspiring to push you into solitude, but you refuse to go along with it because you can’t stand to be alone for even 30 minutes. You do everything you can to surround yourself with warm bodies, including taking yoga and dance classes, joining clubs, and living with multiple roommates in a large house. Though you succeed in almost never being alone, you fail to do the inner work that comes naturally in solitude, thus continue to delay your spiritual progress.

In what way are you taking the easy way out and avoiding real, spiritual progress? Meditate on that. Also, go easy on yourself, but strive to constructively and honestly deal with life tests as they appear at your doorstep so you can avoid a dreaded do-over in the future.

What Everyone Ought to Know About Redemption

Share Button

The Oxford Dictionaries defines redemption as “the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil: God’s plans for the redemption of his world [in singular] a thing that saves someone from error or evil… the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt… the action of buying one’s freedom: soldiers who were captured had to seek redemption [as modifier]: serfs began paying redemption dues… ”

Two assassins are talking about their work and the associated burdens and one of them says, “Sure, I’ve killed many people, but I’ve also saved many lives. Have you ever asked yourself, at the moment of judgment, or whatever happens after death, is there anything that could redeem us?”

It’s a very common question: is it possible to clear the heavy karmic debts that you’ve incurred in this lifetime?

Our answer is, it depends. It may not even be a karmic debt in the first place, even in the case of terminating someone’s life.

In the case of the two assassins, considering they are under contract to eliminate only individuals such as terrorists who intend to harm civilians, we believe the assassins are free of any related negative karma.

Just as it’s acceptable in a karmic sense to squash a mosquito, or eradicate parasites from your body, it’s perfectly okay to kill terrorists, those who have killed and fully intend to kill more American (or European, or Thai, etc.) civilians, for example. Kill a terrorist, save multiple people (or even just one person) in the process, and you balance out your karma, in our educated opinion.

Alternatively, if an assassin is in the business of killing people who merely got on the wrong side of an outlaw, for instance, like in the case of someone with gambling debts, we believe it’s likely the assassin will incur the related karma. Although it may be fate that the gambler was supposed to die that way, and the assassin was supposed to carry out the hit, karma will probably still be incurred, in our view.

However, is it possible that the assassin who knocks off the gambler won’t incur any negative karma? Yes, we think so, because in our past life regression empirical research we’ve witnessed cases where so called horrible acts were committed, yet no karma was incurred, either because it was payback time and the final chapter from past lives, or there was some sort of karmic exemption, since that’s how all the key players set it up before incarnating.

In the case of warriors on the battlefield slaughtering each other, based on our findings, we believe there can be some sort of spiritual “war exemption,” agreed to before incarnating, that frees the soldiers from the heavy spiritual burden; they won’t be forced by their higher-self to be murdered again and again for each battlefield kill. Note: for those who say “war doesn’t have to happen,” we disagree–there will always be alternating periods of war and peace, just like you will never be able to avoid all disagreements and contention between two very different people. Besides, there will always be very bad people on this planet, no matter how much you pray for peace.

Do guilty feelings reflect and even contribute to karma? They can, but a total sociopath who feels no guilt at all is still accruing karma on a regular basis.

For those of you who believe that you have sinned and are damned to hell, you still have time to at least work toward redemption by making up for negative acts with positive ones. Even for those without major sins, helping others however and whenever you can on a small or large scale is always a good idea.

The Consciousness Trap

Share Button

In your pursuit of spiritual awareness, you may have embraced the “consciousness” movement. After all, it sounds good, right? Become more conscious of yourself, humanity, and the environment, and strive to better the planet.

However, what you may not realize is that to many advocates, “consciousness” includes destructive economic and political policies.

You’re Not Alone if You’ve Fallen For it

Many people have become ensnared in the consciousness trap. The music-to-your-ears cosmic messages, on the surface, appear to be beneficial for humanity and the planet. Some are, some aren’t.

Aside from the feel-good New Age messages about spiritual enlightenment, it’s very common for consciousness advocates to portray American capitalism as a very bad thing, as if they really want to destroy the American system. This is troubling, because contrary to extreme left political ideology, small businesses (defined as fewer than 500 employees) drive the economy, creating approximately 70% of the jobs.

That’s free enterprise, free trade among honorable American citizens, and it’s very unfortunate that the consciousness radicals, instead of focusing on the real problem, big government and big corporation collusion, and crony corporatism, these jokers target the American free enterprise system as a whole, the very thing that has made America and much of the rest of the world prosper.

Take away the economic growth engine of capitalism, and you won’t have time to concern yourself with consciousness, because your days will be consumed with trying to meet your basic survival needs.

Don’t believe us? Go live in North Korea for a while and experience firsthand a communist country. We doubt you’ll be jumping on the “let’s hate America and the capitalist system” bandwagon after that trip.

It’s reminiscent of the 1960s radicals who raged against the American system, but never offered any viable solutions, though the dark side of this movement is much more covert and underhanded.

A consciousness red flag would be something like this: “(A political candidate) has more compassion for all living beings than (the other political candidate), so you must vote for him.”

You won’t ever get a real sense about a candidate’s level of compassion from what they read from the teleprompter, and your interpretation of their intent behind their policies is likely subjective. This is where critical, objective analysis is so important. Sadly, the majority of people are not interested in or simply not capable of it.

How to Navigate the Consciousness Trap

The true meaning of consciousness is self-awareness through identifying and rising above fear-based attachments, including all bias and intolerance. In doing so, you see the world as it really is, and you’ll more likely perceive the truth and lies about each individual political issue.

Daily meditation helps a lot in achieving a clearer state of awareness, especially for those who struggle with impartiality and a reasonable sense of discernment.

Watch for These Types of Bogus Phrases to Help You Identify Phony Consciousness Initiatives

1. You must forgo your individuality for global unity (a “One World Government” slogan).

2. There has never been a better time to open up to universal consciousness.

3. We are moving from duality consciousness to unity consciousness and those who refuse to make the leap with us will be left behind. Stepping through the gateway with us will activate your higher purpose.

4. Once unity consciousness is achieved peace and prosperity will reign forever.

5. You will be able to elevate your spiritual vibration, shed your karma, and ascend beyond the polarity of this dimension (not unless you’re Buddha or Jesus, or otherwise have earned avatar status!).

The future of humanity is not at risk, there are no critical crossroads, and if you follow the advice above, you’ll never get caught in the consciousness trap again.

5 Falsehoods About Spirituality and Money

Share Button

Abuse of financial power, such as manipulating, exploiting, or making false promises with the carrot and stick trick will downgrade your spirituality and earn you some tough future life karma. Most people who have studied the concept of karma and reincarnation understand this, even if they don’t always live it.

Our empirical research involving karma, reincarnation, fate, money, and spirituality over the past 25 years includes findings that may surprise you because they contrast with widely held “Eastern mysticism” ideals (which are often misinterpretations of authentic ancient ideals, and largely spiritual dogma, in our view). Below we dismantle 5 myths related to money and spirituality.

1. Although you may favor an ascetic lifestyle, giving away all personal property and wealth, it won’t necessarily make you more spiritual. It’s just as likely to cause stress and cloud your spirituality due to a lack of resources and finances than a lifestyle with an overabundance of material things and wealth that could demand too much of your time.

The key is balance, and it’s even possible to be a billionaire and be more spiritually aware and more at peace than a pauper ascetic. Needless self-sacrifice can cause bad karma; put the excessive idealism aside and consider if you have hidden false guilt about wealth.

2. True or false: a multi-millionaire owner of a company will always avoid doing anything that will put his wealth in jeopardy; he will put the prospect of increased wealth over honesty.

The answer is, it depends. There are dishonest operators in every industry, but it’s simply not true that every multi-millionaire is evil and will automatically behave badly if they think they can get away with it. Overall, the rich aren’t any less honest than the poor, and it’s unfair and naive to believe that anyone who “makes it” does so through deception and theft. It’s best to avoid being snowed by class warfare, which pits the poor against those who have more.

3. A preference for living among “the people,” in the middle class is fine, but to label high society as a rotten place to live, as if only the soulless inhabit that realm, displays blatant intolerance and a distorted perspective. There are good and evil people in every class throughout society, and having more resources alone won’t make you a bad person.

4. Despite common claims to the contrary, acquiring money, in itself, can be a spiritual and fulfilling endeavor, particularly if you ultimately help others through that acquisition. There’s nothing wrong with being loaded, as long as you don’t neglect other areas of your life, like your health and family, and your conduct remains honorable.

5. There’s a prevailing notion in the New Age community that condemns business and capitalism, and instead promotes an (impossibly idealistic) alternative model where everyone strives for a “spiritual planet,” “supports one another,” and “economic justice” (i.e allowing government to confiscate private wealth for re-distribution as they see fit) prevails.

Unfortunately, the proponents fail to see that a larger government is the problem, not the solution, and we are already striving to support one another through free enterprise and free-choice charity.

As much as we’d like it to be true, there isn’t and never will be Utopia on Earth and there will always be “good” and “bad” forces on this planet. The law of polarity is frequently overlooked, as is the law of karma (as well as common sense personal responsibility, including taking care of your family).

The best you can do is to help yourself and those around you to be the best they can be. Your role in society may very well be to make a lot of money. Even if you don’t give a lot away, spending it will still help others.

Money is not the root of all evil, and working for free isn’t always practical. You must have a healthy exchange of some sort. The current prevailing economic system (American capitalism, not “crony capitalism” or other unfair practices), while not perfect, is the most freedom-oriented, fair, and practical and allows for such an exchange, and money and spirituality can be wonderful partners if you allow them to be.

7 Ways Your Religion May Be Hurting You

Share Button

In our exhaustive metaphysical exploration and studies over the last 25 years, we’ve never exclusively adhered to one system, religion or approach. Instead, we’ve objectively considered and sampled multiple alternatives, then applied diligence, reason, and strong intuition to discern what was of the most value, and discarded what wasn’t.

One of our favorite spiritual tools is past life regression. If you experience regression enough times, you’ll find that you (your soul, not your personality) have lived many lifetimes and experienced various religions, races, economic conditions, and multitudes of other human circumstances. You’ll also better understand your life today and why you experienced what you did then.

Past life and life between life research has also shown us that there is no religion on the other side. Once your physical body dies, you enter a spiritual realm of complete love, understanding, acceptance, and awareness, void of ego and judgment. This means that religious constructs are man-made and they only exist on Earth.

Organized religion can be very beneficial. It gives people hope, peace of mind, and it can help reinforce order and morality, benefiting society. However, religion can also be harmful when taken to an extreme, as with the following seven examples.

1. Strict marriage rules tend to cause a lot of pain. Certain religions mandate that their followers must marry only people of the same faith, which has caused great sorrow and even harmful consequences. Also, many religions prohibit divorce. Can you imagine having your marriage arranged at a very young age, then having no way out, for the rest of your life, once you realize your spouse is abusive or not at all compatible?

2. Intolerance of other faiths isn’t spiritual. Contrary to what some religious leaders teach, no one religion has a monopoly on God or whatever other name you want to give to a higher power. Such bigotry has caused much war, violence, and terrorism.

3. Intolerance of select groups of people isn’t spiritual either. Religions declaring that homosexuality is wrong only encourages, at the least, homophobia and self-hatred, and worst case, suicide and violence. Fortunately, we have found zero evidence of anyone being punished in the afterlife for being gay, but plenty of instances of past life homophobes paying a karmic price in future lifetimes.

4. Lack of personal responsibility is fostered by some organized religion’s tenets. Most people instinctively know what is right and wrong and behave accordingly. But others lack this awareness and blindly follow their religion’s strict rules. Even worse, they’re instructed that as long as they go to confession, for example, their bad deeds will be cleared. This just excuses and encourages bad behavior. On the other hand, when one understands the concepts of karma and reincarnation, you know that everything you do, say, and intend will come back to you. There’s no get out of jail free card.

5. Unfortunately, many religions foster excessive conformity. There are so many rules that encourage people to obey instead of thinking for themselves that they develop a sheep-herd mentality and fail to cultivate their unique individuality.

6. Select organized religions advocate irresponsible rules about sex. Some religious leaders preach that condoms are immoral while HIV, other STDs, and unwanted pregnancies continue to be a massive problem. Some of these same leaders have even protected pedophiles from prosecution and instead blamed gays and the secularization of society.

7. Malnutrition from a “spiritual diet” is an unfortunate byproduct of some belief systems. While New Agers tend to be spiritual, not religious, some of their views and practices can do more harm than good, like the myth that you must be a life-long vegan to avoid creating negative karma. A long-term, strict vegetarian diet can be beneficial for some body types, but according to experts like Dr. Joseph Mercola, few people benefit from strict, long-term vegetarianism.

If your religion enriches your life, then by all means continue with it. But it’s our belief that one doesn’t need to be religious to be a good person, help others, and do the right thing in all situations. Our findings show that you won’t be punished in the afterlife if you follow the truly virtuous tenets in your religion and drop the rest.

Why Inequality is Not What it Seems

Share Button

“Income inequality” has been a popular topic in the news lately. Some say that those who make more money should give to those who have less to “even the playing field.”

From the standpoint of karma and reincarnation, there is no such thing as inequality. Life is not supposed offer equal outcomes (equal rights are another matter). Everyone is experiencing what they need to for their soul growth and, or for karmic reasons; like it or not (and we risk angry e-mails every time we mention this), you’ve earned much (not all) of the “good” and “bad” in your life through your past life actions.

We’re all for helping the disadvantaged with intelligent and reasonable solutions, but in our opinion, confiscating large portions of wealth from those who earned it legally, just because they have more, is unfair and it will also create negative karma. To demonstrate how we think forced wealth distribution is a bad idea, here are some similar solutions to some of life’s other inequalities (and often karmic circumstances).

Looks. Effective immediately, all good-looking people must wear bags over their heads and contribute to a cosmetic surgery fund for the appearance disadvantaged.

Weight. Everyone who makes an effort to exercise and eat healthily must stop. They are also required to eat a quota of junk food and drag the unmotivated to the gym.

Style. Do you always manage to look your best? Not anymore. You now must dress sloppily and refrain from any form of hair or clothing improvements.

Friends and family. Do you have great friendships or a loving family? Sorry, it’s not fair because many don’t. From this point forward, you must include the socially disadvantaged in your circle and do things to offend and alienate family members.

Grades. It’s wonderful that you’ve worked hard to achieve that stellar GPA, but you’re making others feel scholastically inferior. Your grades will now be shared with those who haven’t made an effort or people whose memories are not as photographic.

Boobs. It’s not fair of you to show off what you were born with or bought. Anyone caught doing so will be fined and forced to contribute to a fund to help the less endowed.

Love. How dare you! You’re happily involved when so many aren’t. You must now either share your relationship with someone less fortunate, or end it forever.

Money. Are you angry that you have less than the “fat cats?” Do you think they are greedy and should share their wealth with you? You have a lot more than the truly poor in impoverished, third world nations, so from this point forward, you will be required to share a large portion of your income with those less fortunate people.

Author J.K. Rowling went from poverty to billionaire status with her books and movies. Does anyone in their right mind call her prosperity in the free market, a fair exchange with willing fans, a “social injustice?”

If you “have not” and are furious at the “haves” (and we’re not talking about the “have”-thieves; the vast majority of “haves” are honorable) it’s likely that this “inequality” is karmic for you. Guess what you were like in a past life? Life doesn’t owe you, it’s perfectly fair, and nobody deserves a “participation trophy” just for showing up.

Envy is ugly. Be grateful for what you do have and do what you can to help others with your time, wisdom, or in other ways. The good karma will come back to you.

Finding Your Perfect Career

Share Button

One of the most common questions we receive is “What should I do for my career?”

Some are studying toward a degree and questioning if it’s right for them.

Some didn’t have parents or mentors who helped them develop interests other than TV, sports, or video games, or they were urged into unwanted careers.

Others want us to tell them what to do. They are so used to following directions and pleasing everyone that they have forgotten about their own inner needs and interests. This is an area where you need to be a bit selfish.

New Age “life purpose” marketing is popular today. For example, one “guru” says, “Knowing your life purpose is the first step to attracting great wealth and changing the world!”

Mythical assertions like this lead people to believe that their most fitting life purpose automatically leads to a high paying career. Unfortunately, we’ve found that not everyone is destined to have “the ideal job” and, or be rich. However, everyone has free will and can make the most of their circumstances, talents, and interests.

Many people are unhappily employed and have no idea what to do. Perhaps life has overwhelmed them, they are stuck in survival mode, and forgot about their passions and dreams.

Here are four tips if you don’t know what to do for a career:

1. As many successful people have said, follow your passions. What you “should” do, your highest path, will likely make your heart sing. Think deeply about what you’re passionate about, what you’re good at, and what you love to do. Somewhere in there lies what you “should” do with your life. Then your task is to figure out a way to make money with those things.

2. Learn to meditate. Then, ask these two questions every day in meditation: “What are my passions and talents and how can I use them to best serve myself and others?” “What is the next step for me in my quest for a fulfilling and successful career?”

3. Once you define a definite career direction, seek out a mentor who has been successful in a similar career.

Note: despite claims to the contrary by New Age marketers, not everyone is meant to be a self-employed entrepreneur. The rate of failure for American businesses, for example, is 90%. For on-line marketing, it’s 95%. It may be that you are best suited to be in a partnership, or even part of a large organization.

Keep in mind that your passion may need to remain a hobby while you pay your bills working a tolerable job. On the other hand, if you’re creative and it’s part of your path, you may be able to find a way to make money doing what you love. Also, sometimes you need to go through a longer process of trying different options, some of which may be needed to develop skills for a later career.

4. Comprehensive astrology and numerology, handwriting analysis, tarot and intuitive, and other types of readings can tell you a great deal about the career that is most suitable for you, and even give you significant clues about how or where to find it.

By the way, some people actually believe that to be truly spiritual you must provide “selfless service” and not put your interests ahead of others. If you want to be a martyr, fine, but we strongly discourage this because you can’t serve others in the best way you can unless you’re also serving yourself in some way.
